NinjaTrader Copy Trading VPS: Replikanto and Prop Firm Account Setup

Install the correct Replikanto build on a NinjaTrader VPS, map simulation accounts, check contract matching, and recover disconnected or disarmed followers.

NinjaTrader desktop workspace with charts and SuperDOM order tools

A NinjaTrader trade copier such as Replikanto sends a leader account’s orders to selected followers. On a VPS, install it into the NinjaTrader Desktop instance running on that server, connect the accounts, then validate the mapping in simulation. Hosting alone does not configure or activate copying.

Match the Replikanto download to NinjaTrader#

Record both software versions before changing an existing workspace. As checked September 21, 2026, FlowBots documents Replikanto 1.6.1.7 built for NinjaTrader 8.1.7+ as compatible with NinjaTrader 8.1.8. This is a documented compatibility example; choose the currently supported download for your installed version rather than treating that pair as an instruction to downgrade.

  1. In the VPS’s NinjaTrader Control Center, open Help > About and record the full NinjaTrader version.
  2. Use FlowBots’ download-selection guide to match the NinjaTrader Version column to that number. Keep the downloaded ZIP intact.
  3. Follow the installation guide: Tools > Import > NinjaScript Add-On, browse to the ZIP, complete the import, then restart NinjaTrader when active trading is stopped.
  4. Open New > FlowBots > Replikanto. Its window title or Properties panel shows the copier version. Confirm the VPS installation has a valid license.

An empty Import dialog is a file browser: navigate to the saved ZIP. If importing fails, keep the exact error and consult the installation guide before changing unrelated workspace files.

Connect accounts, then build a small test mapping#

First confirm each intended account appears in NinjaTrader’s Accounts tab. Separate Rithmic logins belong to the multi-account connection setup; the copier configuration starts after those accounts are available.

For Apex or another prop firm, verify the rules for the specific account type before enabling copying. A firm’s name does not establish its feed, permitted copying arrangement or position limits.

Use two actual simulation accounts for this illustrative configuration. SIM-LEADER and SIM-FOLLOWER below are worksheet labels, not account IDs or observed test results.

Setting Initial simulation check
Leader Select the actual account recorded as SIM-LEADER
Follower Enable only the account recorded as SIM-FOLLOWER
Instrument Use the same exact contract and expiry in the order ticket and Replikanto tab
Method Start with Exact Quantity; use one simulated contract
Additional modes Leave Market Only and Cross Order off for this same-contract baseline

Keep the copier window open. In simulation, inspect submission, modification, cancellation and exit behavior in both accounts’ Orders and Positions tabs. Save the settings and results before adding followers or changing quantity methods. Exact Quantity requests matching contract quantities; it does not guarantee matching fills.

If you later use Ratio or Cross Order, test those settings separately. Mini-to-micro instrument mapping does not automatically establish equivalent exposure. The vendor’s copying troubleshooting guide explains quantity and instrument mismatches.

Diagnose the specific copier state#

Symptom Check next
Account missing from NinjaTrader Broker/provider connection and credentials
Account visible in NinjaTrader but absent from Replikanto Global Simulation Mode and the vendor’s account-visibility checks
Enabled follower receives nothing Selected leader, exact contract expiry, follower connection and rejection logs
Follower is red/disarmed Follower Guard message and the underlying order/connection problem
Follower is yellow/out of sync Compare actual positions and working orders; yellow can still receive copies

Global Simulation Mode can remove live followers. A broker evaluation account is a different concept from NinjaTrader’s local simulation mode. Before changing that setting, confirm the intended environment; FlowBots says to reopen Replikanto and select the follower again afterward.

Follow Follower Guard’s recovery instructions after resolving the cause and reviewing account state. Disarmed followers do not receive copies. Remote followers must be rearmed from their own Replikanto window; the leader cannot do it for them.

For disconnected NinjaTrader broker/data feeds, we recommend Ninja Watchdog. It automatically reconnects supported accounts, including Rithmic and Tradovate, waits for live data, and can restore interrupted strategies. Then verify copier selections, working orders and actual positions. A restored connection does not prove missed orders were copied.

Extend the setup to more accounts or machines#

Each participating machine needs NinjaTrader, Replikanto and its own license. Internet Remote Copy uses follower Remote IDs and sending credits on the leader. Same-network copying has separate LAN connection checks. Use the trade copier hosting guide to map which computers must stay running.

Measure CPU and memory with the copier, connections and normal charts loaded together; account count alone does not determine capacity. The NinjaTrader sizing guide covers that test, and the remote access guide explains disconnecting versus signing out. Our recommended tools directory links related connection and recovery tools.

If you use Replikanto or another NinjaTrader copier for prop accounts, do not size your VPS like it is just one chart. Copy trading has three extra failure points. First, the copier stack. NinjaTrader, Replikanto, broker connections, prop dashboards, and follower accounts all add load. Second, continuity. If a laptop sleeps, local internet drops, or Windows restarts, the copier workflow can break. A hosted Windows desktop helps keep the setup in one place. Third, rules. A VPS can host the workflow, but it does not make a copier allowed by a prop firm. Check account rules, copy limits, and risk controls before you go live.
