Install your NinjaTrader indicator or add-on inside your Ninja Mobile Trader VPS, then complete its activation and test its configuration there. We specialize in hosting NinjaTrader Desktop on Windows, keeping your customized charts and tools in one installation you can access from a PC, Mac, phone or tablet.
That is the advantage for an NMT customer using Desktop add-ons: the Windows software lives on the VPS. Connecting from another supported device gives you access to that installation without installing the Windows add-on on the viewing device.
Start with the right package#
Download from the developer’s trusted source using the browser inside your remote Windows desktop. Check the vendor’s supported NinjaTrader version, package type and activation requirements against the VPS installation. Record your platform version under Help > About.
If the download is already on your Mac, our Mac setup guide explains transferring it to the VPS. Installing or updating NinjaTrader itself belongs in the Windows VPS setup guide.
Before changing an established setup, use a supervised maintenance window with order-producing automation stopped and live execution excluded. Preserve the existing setup with our NinjaTrader backup procedure.
Import the add-on in remote Windows#
For a package supplied for NinjaScript import, follow NinjaTrader’s official add-on instructions:
- Open the NinjaTrader Control Center inside the VPS.
- Choose Tools > Import > NinjaScript Add-On.
- Browse to the vendor’s downloaded package and select it.
- Start the import and check the result before continuing.
Use the vendor’s installation procedure when it supplies an installer or other format. Do not rename an arbitrary file to make it appear in the import dialog.
For an add-on update, confirm which existing components the package replaces. Accept replacements only for files you intend to update, and restart NinjaTrader afterward as its documentation requires. Keep that restart within your maintenance window.
Put an imported indicator on a chart#
Importing makes the tool available; chart configuration is a separate step. Complete any vendor activation for the VPS installation, then use a supported simulation setup with live execution excluded.
NinjaTrader’s indicator guide describes the chart controls:
- Right-click an empty part of the chart and select Indicators.
- Find the tool under Available and add it to Configured.
- Select that configured entry and review its Properties.
- Check the intended input series, panel and vendor-required settings, then apply the changes.
For example, adding an indicator to a second chart requires configuring it on that chart too. A file appearing in the available list is not proof that either chart has the intended settings.
Save the working arrangement using our workspace and chart-template guide. Strategies and standalone add-on windows have their own vendor setup instructions; an indicator check does not validate an automated strategy or copier.
Identify the stage that needs attention#
| What you see | Check next |
|---|---|
| Import reports programming errors | Capture the exact message and inspect the compiler diagnostics before trying more packages. |
| Import succeeds, but the chart has no new indicator | Check Available, then whether the intended entry is Configured on that chart. |
| The vendor rejects activation | Check the license and machine details required by that vendor for the hosted installation. |
| The configured indicator does not display as expected | Check its input series, panel and vendor prerequisites; preserve any error message. |
NinjaTrader explains that import compiles the entire NinjaScript library, so an existing script error can block a new package. Its programming-error guide shows New > NinjaScript Editor, then F5 to display diagnostics.
Keep the backup intact. Record the error code, description and named file for the relevant developer instead of deleting unrelated scripts or replacing the whole installation.
For a precise support request, include the NinjaTrader version, package name/version, the stage that failed and the exact error. Send license details privately through the vendor’s support channel. Our team can help with access to your NMT Windows desktop.
