Inside your Ninja Mobile Trader VPS, open a NinjaTrader chart and choose Chart Trader from its toolbar to display the order panel. Then check the instrument, account, quantity, time in force and ATM selection before using an order control.
We specialize in hosting NinjaTrader Desktop on Windows. Build your chart layout on a larger screen, then return to that same hosted installation from a supported PC, Mac, phone or tablet. Our subscriptions include Windows licensing and 24/7 VPS support.
Open the full order panel#
NinjaTrader’s Chart Trader overview places the panel on the right side of the chart.
- Connect to your NMT Windows desktop and open the intended chart in NinjaTrader.
- Click the Chart Trader icon in the chart toolbar.
- Select Chart Trader to show the full panel while configuring it.
Chart Trader (Hidden) collapses that panel but still lets you place and manage orders from the chart. It is a display choice, not a way to disable chart trading. The Hidden View guide explains how to restore the full panel from the same toolbar menu.
For display adjustments, right-click inside the Chart Trader panel > Properties. The properties reference includes order-line length, colors, PnL units and Auto scale, which controls whether orders and positions are included in chart scaling.
Check five controls before an entry#
Use this record beside NinjaTrader’s order-submission instructions:
| Control | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Instrument | The intended instrument and contract. On a multi-instrument chart, check the Instrument dropdown rather than relying on the chart’s appearance. |
| Account | The exact account receiving the order. For this rehearsal, use your existing simulation account. |
| TIF | The intended time-in-force setting for the order. |
| Order Qty | The quantity currently displayed, including after changing an ATM selection. |
| ATM Strategy | Whether you selected None, a saved template or an active ATM instance. |
For the standalone simulation exercise below, choose None: the entry will have no attached ATM strategy. That is a way to isolate the interface exercise, not a recommendation for managing a live trade.
Our ATM template guide covers creating templates and distinguishing a saved template from an active ATM. Keep that separate from learning the chart’s controls.
Rehearse one order in simulation#
Use a supported simulation connection with data streaming during the instrument’s market hours. Exclude live execution and copier routes, and start with no working orders or open position in the practice account.
Simulation account availability depends on your NinjaTrader connection mode. With Multi-provider enabled, local accounts such as Sim101 are available; Tools > Global Simulation Mode restricts order-entry selectors to simulation accounts. With Multi-provider disabled, use the Simulation connection offered at sign-in. Keep your established connection mode for this exercise.
- Read back the five controls. Confirm the simulation account, intended instrument and your chosen practice quantity. Keep manual OCO off for this standalone order.
- Inspect the chart menu. Right-click at your chosen practice price. The available order types depend on where that price sits relative to the market. Selecting an order option submits it; use a limit order in the simulation account for this exercise.
- Check its record. In Control Center > Orders, verify account, instrument, quantity and state. If it remains working, locate its marker on the chart.
- Try a pending edit, then cancel it. For a still-working order, click the label on the left of its line to display a ghost price line. Press Esc to abandon that pending price change. The documented adjustment method uses one click to select and another to confirm a new price.
- Finish the exercise. Use the marker’s red X to request cancellation of the still-working order, then confirm the result in Orders. If it filled, close the resulting simulation position through your normal practice-account controls. Check Orders and Positions for that account so no working order or position is left from the exercise.
NinjaTrader’s modification and cancellation guide also notes that canceling one OCO order cancels its companions. Verify the resulting state rather than treating a click as confirmation.
This rehearsal checks interface operation. Sim101 does not implement end-of-session TIF expiration, so it does not validate how a live account will expire an order.
If an order line is missing#
Chart Trader displays orders and positions only for the selected account and instrument. Check those selectors first. A market order is not drawn as a resting order line.
Use the Orders tab to inspect order state and the Positions tab for open positions. Check grid account filters too. A blank chart is not proof that an order was canceled.
Keep the chart ready on your NMT workspace#
Once the controls and labels are readable, save the arrangement using our workspace guide. When switching devices, reconnect to the same VPS and Windows user, then recheck the current account and order settings.
Our mobile desktop guide covers connection and touch controls. Remote access returns you to the Windows installation; it does not copy the chart setup into NinjaTrader’s separate native mobile app.
